Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Detawk at app.detawk.com, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

Detawk is a German language learning platform offering structured lessons, interactive drills, and AI-generated audio based on the FSI (Foreign Service Institute) methodology. Some content is available for free; full access requires a paid subscription.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when registering.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to use Detawk.
  • One person may not share one account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

4.1 Plans

Detawk offers the following subscription plans:

  • Monthly: €5/month
  • Yearly: €50/year

4.2 Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis.
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
  • Prices are listed in EUR (Euro) and may be subject to local taxes.

4.3 Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the Stripe billing portal.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access until that date.
  • We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

4.4 Free Content

Unit 1 and select introductory content are available without a subscription.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials or allow others to use your account
  • Attempt to circumvent access restrictions (e.g., to unlock paid content without a subscription)
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute Detawk content without written permission
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or disrupt the service

6. Intellectual Property

All content on Detawk (including lesson text, audio recordings, exercises, and UI design) is owned by Detawk or its licensors. The underlying FSI course materials are in the public domain; Detawk's specific implementation, audio, and presentation are proprietary.

You may use the content for your personal, non-commercial language learning. You may not reproduce or distribute it without our written consent.

7. User Feedback

If you submit feedback or suggestions through Detawk, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that feedback to improve the service. We are not obligated to act on any feedback.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Detawk is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • You will achieve any specific level of language fluency
  • All content is free from inaccuracies

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Detawk and its operators shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to access paid content ends immediately. We will not refund fees already paid.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@detawk.com.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. We will notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
