These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DeTawk, operated by DeTawk ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. The Service

DeTawk is a German language learning platform built on the FSI German course curriculum. We provide structured lessons, audio content, and learning tools to help users achieve German proficiency.

2. Beta Period

DeTawk is currently in beta. This means:

  • The service is provided free of charge during the beta period.
  • Features may change, be added, or be removed without notice.
  • We may experience downtime, bugs, or data issues. We appreciate your patience and feedback.
  • When the beta period ends, DeTawk will transition to a paid subscription model. We will give users reasonable advance notice before any charges apply. Beta users will have the opportunity to opt in to a paid plan or close their account.

3. Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use DeTawk. By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically download course content.
  • Share your account credentials with others.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its servers.

5. Intellectual Property

The FSI German course audio and text materials are in the public domain and are freely available. DeTawk's platform design, code, branding, and supplemental content (such as exercises, UI, and spaced-repetition data) are owned by DeTawk and may not be reproduced without permission.

6. Subscriptions & Payments (Post-Beta)

After the beta period ends, continued access will require a paid subscription. Pricing, billing cycles, and refund policies will be communicated before the transition. Subscriptions will auto-renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account settings.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@detawk.com.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

DeTawk is provided "as is" during the beta period. We make no guarantees regarding uptime, accuracy of content, or specific learning outcomes. Language learning results vary by individual effort and engagement.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeTawk shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
