The Plan

Where DeTawk is going.

The FSI German course is 24 units. Here's how we're building it out.

Now

Digitize Units 1–6

Unit 1 is live. We're converting Units 2–6 from the original FSI course PDFs into the app: dialogues, drills, grammar notes, and vocabulary.

Next

Add Audio for Units 1–6

Once the content is in place, we record audio for every dialogue and drill in Units 1–6. Hearing the language before reading it is the whole point of the FSI method.

Then

Digitize Units 7–12

Same process for the second half of the first act: convert the PDFs, build out the drills and notes. Units 7–12 cover the bulk of core German grammar.

Then

Add Audio for Units 7–12

Audio recorded for Units 7–12. At this point the full first half of the FSI course is in the app with audio.

Then

Modernize Units 1–12

The FSI course was written in the 1960s. The method is timeless. The vocabulary isn't. We go through Units 1–12 and remove outdated words and phrases, updating the dialogues and sentences to reflect how German is actually spoken today.

Later

Units 13–24

The second half of the FSI course, built the same way: digitize, add audio, then update the vocabulary and conversations for modern German. More complex grammar and the material that takes you to B2/C1 proficiency.

Unit 1 is free. No credit card.
